Progress

In Place

A heartfelt story about growing through what you go through.

Progress in Place follows Rachel as she navigates the pressures of academic life, financial struggle, and the desire to find her place in the world. What begins as a search for escape soon becomes a journey of confronting pain, embracing change, and discovering inner strength. Filled with confusion, triumph, and betrayal, this novel is a reminder that every choice — even the hardest ones — guides us toward who we are meant to become.

About the Author

Gladys Modisapudi

Gladys Modisapudi was born and raised in the North West province of South Africa, the youngest of five siblings — a role she proudly says made her “the most spoiled.” Growing up in a vibrant and loving Tswana household shaped not only her identity but also her deep appreciation for storytelling, culture, and community.

Her career journey began in retail before she transitioned into the media industry. Today, Gladys works as a Media Buyer at The MediaShop in Durban, where she blends her creativity, analytical skill, and passion for communication. She holds a diploma in Advertising and Media Studies and has gained valuable experience working in customer service roles at Truworths and Le Coq Sportif while pursuing her studies.

Now based in Newlands East, KwaZulu-Natal, Gladys continues to embrace growth, independence, and the courage to build a life far from home. She is known for her warm demeanour and strong interpersonal skills — qualities consistently recognised by teachers, colleagues, and leaders throughout her career.

Gladys is a passionate storyteller, drawn to themes of identity, resilience, and personal transformation. Through her writing, she hopes to inspire, connect, and remind others that progress can be found even in the places we least expect.
